A clean, modern refresh of an existing website
Client Overview
Anna Langheiter is a Training Designer with many different products on her website. She has developed an app and written a book. Her website was originally built in 2017 and needed a refresh according to modern design and web guidelines.
Project Goals
- Responsive Design: Develop a fully responsive website to ensure a seamless user experience across various devices.
- Brand Consistency: Maintain brand integrity while infusing a new design mood that reflects the client's values and resonates with the target audience.
- User-Centric Approach: Prioritise user experience by simplifying navigation, improving readability, and optimising conversion paths.
Design Mood Exploration
As most of the design had previously been established, the mood for the website refresh was to match other marketing materials as well as the industry "standard" for professional websites. On top of current web standards, the client wished to move away from the professional mood that was originally implemented to a more playful and light design.
WordPress Implementation
As WordPress had already been implemented for this client, we used the existing page builder Divi to update and create components, which can be reused in the future. There had been no structure to any of the pages, so the creation of a design/component library became very important to make future global updates much easier.
Key Features and Functionalities
- Intuitive Navigation: The navigation was changed to make navigation decisions easier and to make all products easily findable
- Engaging Visuals: New videos and images have been added to the website to make the products more engaging
- Clear Calls-to-Action: This was one of the main new features; anchor links now make it possible to lead users straight to the needed information on the "events" page
Conclusion
We used a well-chosen design style in a fully responsive WordPress site, helping the client refresh their online presence. This gave users a smooth and reliable experience. The project's success shows the importance of focusing on users and using design elements that appeal to the target audience.
